About This Place

Nestled within the lively Optimist Hall food hall in Charlotte, Harriet’s Hamburgers offers an authentic taste of classic American comfort food, focusing on perfectly crafted, mouthwatering burgers that satisfy even the most discerning burger aficionados. Specializing in premium Angus beef sourced from Creekstone Farms, each burger is a testament to quality — served on a buttery brioche bun with housemade pickles, ribbon red onions, and their signature sauce. Whether you’re craving the OG Hamburger, a juicy double cheese burger, or the famous Jucy Lucy, Harriet’s delights in delivering that quintessential diner-style experience with a gourmet touch.

The atmosphere at Harriet’s Hamburgers is lively and inviting, set within the vibrant Optimist Hall, where the buzz of fellow food lovers creates the perfect backdrop for indulging in hearty, nostalgic flavors. This isn’t a spot for those seeking “clean” or light fare — it’s a destination for those who appreciate the comfort of a well-executed, juicy hamburger paired with golden, crispy French fries. The scent of sizzling Angus beef mingling with toasted brioche and tangy pickles is irresistibly evocative, transporting you back to the simple joys of a classic burger joint.

Customers frequently praise the balance Harriet’s strikes between simplicity and flavor. For example, the Hamburger + Cheese, served “medium right” with California Creamery White American Cheese and paired with Harriet’s signature sauces, offers a succulent, juicy bite that’s complemented perfectly by the richness of the buttery bun and the crisp brightness of house-made pickles. Many also rave about the sauce flight – a must-try addition that elevates fries and burgers alike with bold, tangy, and savory notes.

Patrons commend not only the food but the welcoming, attentive service and quick-moving lines even during busy times. The team’s helpfulness and friendly demeanor enhance the overall experience, making a visit to Harriet’s more than just a meal — it’s a satisfying, feel-good occasion. As one local aptly put it, the experience evokes a sense of nostalgia wrapped in a modern, culinary package.

I finally made it to Optimist Park to try Harriet's. FYI, this is not the place to be if you're eating healthy or clean. This visit was about comfort food. I played it safe and just tried the cheeseburger and fries. I ended up munching on the fries in the car. I'm not sure why, but the taste of the food gave me a sense of nostalgia. I observed how the staff worked while I waited for my order. The orders were coming in and everyone seemed to work well together. I don't remember his name, but one gentleman was extra bubbly and engaging with me and others. I'm due for a return visit.

The food was great and the customer service was amazing! I won’t blame this establishment but I do think I missed out a little on what could have been a top 5 burger I’ve ever had. Being that it was in a food hall, we ended up sitting further than I would have liked and I just didn’t feel like walking all the way back to ask for mustard. That single missing ingredient really made my experience miss the mark. Their garlic aioli was delicious. But discounting that, on a serious note, the smash burger itself was one of the best I’ve ever had. The reason they did not get the 5 star is because I asked for bacon and got pretty much got 2 of the most disappointing “quarter” strips of bacon. Not half bacon… quarter ends. I add bacon to every burger I can, these would be shameful next to a fast food chains bacon. Bacon is not even really highlighted on their menu so if a customer went out of the way to ask for bacon, why would you skimp out on this KEY ingredient? I had to vent on that but truly, I do have a glowing 5 star opinion of the place. I would definitely try again but I’ll pass on adding the bacon.

This burger was flavorful and juicy. A good burger is always a win! The sauce was amazing too. The line was long, but it moved fast. The service was great as well. I can't wait to visit this place again!

Old School burger joint that simple but Amazing! First off the Optimist food hall was dope. Harriet’s team members were helpful and the burgers are classic goodness. The sauce flight is a must to dip for dipping fries. They also have homemade sodas as well. Def check this spot out.

What a great burger joint. Simple food that is prepared well. The roll was soft but sturdy, lettuce, and tomato fresh. And the grind on the burger was perfect. If you're in the mood for a burger, you won't be disappointed here.

Tet F. was an absolute pleasure at the register. Get that woman a raise! Burgers were banging and when they handed me my food they smiled and wished me a good day. Lovely.
